Courses:

As part of our recent KA2 Erasmus project, our dedicated staff recently took part in an exciting KA2 Erasmus+ project focused on sport inclusion and well-being. This collaborative European initiative brought educators together across borders to explore how physical activity, inclusive methodologies, breathing practices, stretching techniques and so many more emotional health strategies can be embedded in everyday school life. A nunber of our staff attended CPD courses in Alicante. Some completed ‘Yoga and Meditation for a Mindful Education’ and others participated in the ‘Body, Mind and Nature’ course.

During the project, Crinkill staff engaged in professional development workshops and exchanges with partner schools from various European countries. The focus was on using sport and movement as a powerful tool to promote inclusivity, teamwork, mental wellness, and a strong sense of belonging among all students.

Upon returning to Ireland, the teachers enthusiastically applied what they had learned in their own classrooms. They put together a set of class plans for the whole school and use them as a guide to teach the various different stretches, deep breathing and calming techniques and positive mental health strategies in each class. New techniques such as inclusive team games, mindful movement breaks, and cooperative physical challenges were introduced. These activities encouraged not just physical development, but also social connection and emotional resilience among pupils of all abilities.

Staff members also shared their own innovative ideas and methodologies with their European counterparts. They showcased Crinkill’s commitment to integrating well-being into the school day through outdoor learning, breathing techniques, and inclusive PE sessions tailored to the needs of all learners. Their contributions enriched the project’s overall impact and fostered lasting professional networks across the continent.

The Erasmus+ experience has left a lasting legacy at Crinkill National School. Pupils benefit from a more inclusive, active, and mindful learning environment, while staff continue to collaborate and grow with an inspiring community of European educators.

Job Shadowing

Some of the staff members of Crinkill National School, embarked on an Erasmus+ journey to Poland, engaging in job shadowing to delve into diverse methodologies and techniques. This initiative aimed to enrich their educational practices back in Ireland. By immersing themselves in Polish educational settings, they gained valuable insights and innovative approaches, fostering a deeper understanding of effective educational strategies. This experience promises to enhance their pedagogical toolkit, enriching classroom dynamics and student engagement across all levels at Crinkill National School.
